A major accident was averted in a Delhi-bound Air India flight on Monday, where the flight made an emergency landing after a passenger’s mobile phone exploded during its take-off. Soon after the soon was seen in the plane, the pilot landed it.

Air India flight made an emergency landing

However, after checking the condition of the plane, it then took off from Rajasthan’s Udaipur within an hour after the emergency landing. During the incident, there was a stir among the passengers onboard the Air India flight amid the explosion of the battery of the passenger’s mobile phone.

According to the media reports, the plane was carrying 140 passengers. No injuries have been reported in the explosion incident.

On June 21, a Delhi-Dehradun IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Delhi airport shortly after its take off. The officials said that the plane made a priority landing after it received a ‘warning signal’ due to some technical issue.

An official statement released by IndiGo stated, “IndiGo flight 6E 2134 from Delhi to Dehradun returned to its origin due to a technical issue. The pilot informed the ATC as per procedure and requested a priority landing.”

Similar mobile explosion incident

A similar mobile explosion incident happened on April 14, 2022, on an IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh to Delhi. However, no causalities were reported during the incident. Taking notes from the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that the phone caught fire amid an ‘abnormal overheating’ issue with the battery. After this, the cabin crew tried to douse the fire immediately using a fire extinguisher.
