A massive fire broke out on Friday at the Azadpur Mandi, Asia’s largest wholesale vegetable and fruits market. Officials have reported that the fire has been successfully contained.

The emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 5:20 PM after plums of thick smoke into the air, prompting the dispatch of 11 fire tenders from the Delhi Fire Service to the scene after receiving the distress call.

In the videos shared across different social media platforms, massive flames and smoke ballooning over the market can be seen, which caused the destruction of countless stalls and storage areas of fresh produce.

As per the reports, the fire was brought under control by 6:30 PM, and the cooling process is underway as confirmed by officials. Importantly, there have been no immediate reports of casualties resulting from the incident.

However, officials are yet to confirm the cause of the fire.
