After days of violence in Haryana’s Nuh district, the Sarv Hindu Samaj is all set to resume the Brajmandal Dharmik Yatra on August 28. Amid this, the Sarv Hindu Samaj, a community group, has called for a maha panchayat in the strife-torn district near a village on the Nuh-Palwal border to take decisions on the preparations for resuming the Brajmandal Dharmik Yatra, which was disrupted by the clashes erupted on July 31, killing six people and more than 80 were injured during the same.

Hindu outfits plan to resume yatra on August 28

On Saturday, the group leaders said that they plan to resume the procession on August 28 from Nallar village in the district.

Also, the official said that members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal are likely to take in the panchayat at Pondri-Kira border village.

Taking the announcement to social media, the organisers shared posters of the maha panchayat and said, “The yatra is reportedly being organised to boost the confidence of Hindus.”

Superintendents from both districts ( Nuh and Palwal) have denied permission for holding the maha panchayat.

No permission given to hold maha panchayat: Nuh SP

Speaking to the media, the SP of Nuh district, Narendra Bijarniya said that they have denied permission to the Hindu outfits to organise the maha panchayat amid the prevailing situation in the affected district. He said, “The situation in the district is under control and teams are deployed across the district, but we are ensuring that people are not allowed to assemble for any meeting.”

Meanwhile, the SP of Palwal district, Lokender Singh said that they received a request for holding the maha panchayat, but have denied permission. “We are analysing the situation in the district and collecting information to ensure there is no security threat,” he said.

Why Nuh violence erupted?

Notably, the yatra is an annual affair, however this year, the Nuh residents were angered by reports that Monu Manesar a cow vigilante wanted for the lynching of two Muslim men, Junaid and Nasir, in February this year, would be attending the event.

In a video shared days before the yatra, Manesar said he would join the procession, which ended in igniting massive violence.

According to the police reports, some Muslims in the area mobilised reinforcements from Rajasthan and also guns, stones, and bottles to attack the procession, which was also a show of strength with at least some of the marchers also armed with guns and swords.

Amid this situation, several questions have been asked of the administration over its intelligence lapses that resulted in it being taken by surprise when the violence broke out, as well as its tardy response.
