An NRI woman from Australia Priyadarshini Lingaraj Patil living in Karnataka‘s Belagavi district committed suicide after losing her children to the custody of Australian authorities.

According to the suicide note, dropped by the 40-year-old deceased mother accused the Australian authorities and some residents of a Sydney locality of harassing her and her family. Taking stress of the same, the lady took her own life.

As per sources, the problem arose after the Australian hospital authorities accused Patil of negligence towards her children. Subsequently, the government had taken custody of her two children. It is also said that after the events, Patil requested the Australian government to withdraw her citizenship so that she could take her children back to India for treatment. However, the Australian government did not entertain her requests, the report added.

Patil’s family accused the Australian government of causing her hardship and said that her failing health conditions drove her to make such a drastic decision.

The police officer has been bothering Patil’s family, she also said in the message. The police are looking into the situation.
