In another initiative for the convenience of commuters, Noida Metro on Thursday started Unified Payments Interface (UPI) option or QR code ticket counters across all 21 stations of Aqua Line. The move has been taken by the Noida Metro after the Delhi Metro’s announcement to introduce QR code-based ticketing.

According to the sources, Dr Lokesh M, the managing director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) launched the new service at Sector-51 metro station.

Meanwhile, NMRC in a statement said, “In order to promote digital payments in line with Government of India directions for promotion of digital payment, ensure smooth operations and facilitate the passengers, new payment option of UPI has been enabled in the TOM interface at ticket counters.”

With this service, the passengers can now buy tickets by cash, credit/debit card (using POS) and UPI at the metro stations.

In addition to this, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also opened 2 dedicated QR Ticket counters at IGI Terminal-3 (T-3) for the benefit of airline passengers for smooth connectivity through the Airport Express Line. These counters are located near pillar 5 of Domestic Arrival & pillar 15 of International Arrival at T-3.

The official Twitter post of DMRC claimed that the booths will help the passengers to buy QR based tickets. The post reads, “For passenger convenience, these counters will be manned by trained ticketing staff from 04:30 am to 10:30 pm and they will assist passengers to buy QR code based ‘Paper Ticket’ & generate ‘Mobile Ticket’ as well.”
