After the incessant rains all over the country, Assam is also not left behind. Water gushed into homes in Assam’s Morigaon district after Brahmaputra River overflowed. According to the officials, almost 120 villages with over 15,000 people were affected by the flooding. Several villages amid incessant rainfall in several parts of the state have been submerged under water.
According to the officials, more than 15,000 people were affected by the flooding in the Morigaon district. A viral video that got surfaced from the Mayong area of Morigaon district showed locals looking on as their houses fall to the hungry tides.
Following relentless rainfall in several parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the water levels of the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries have been rising and have even crossed the danger mark in several areas of the state. Lakhimpur village is the worst hit.
Almost 17 districts in the state with nearly 24,000 locals have been affected in Dhemaji while another 12,000, 8,500 and 7,500 have been stranded in Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, and Dibrugarh districts respectively.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood has affected 120 villages under 11 revenue circles and submerged nearly 3000 hectares of crop area in the flood-hit districts.
