The construction of the New Airport Terminal Building of Chakeri Airport in Kanpur is in its final stages, according to Divisional Commissioner Dr. Rajasekhar, who reviewed the airport’s progress with officials on Monday. He said that 90 per cent of the link road construction from Prayagraj Highway had been completed, and the application for NOC from the Fire Department and Pollution Control Board will be submitted soon. The inauguration of the new airport terminal is expected anytime after March 15, 2023.

Airport Handover Process to Begin Soon

Once the airport construction is complete and all necessary security measures have been taken, the handover process will begin. Necessary changes are being made at the airport as per BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) instructions, which will be completed in the next two weeks. The Director of the Airport informed the Commissioner that two inspections by BCAS have been completed, with the final inspection for final approval likely to occur in the first week of March.

90 percent Completion of Link Road to Prayagraj Highway

The construction of the link road to connect the airport to the Prayagraj highway is almost complete, with 90 per cent of the work done. This is expected to facilitate better access to the airport.

NOC to be Obtained Soon

The Chief Fire Officer has assured us to investigate and issue the final Fire NOC next week. The RM of UP Pollution Board told the Commissioner that the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has to apply for NOC. Once they apply for NOC, the NOC will be issued from HQ in 2 weeks.

Green and Attractive Entry Point

To make the entry point of the airport green and attractive, the Commissioner has asked the PWD to prepare a project for the landscape of the road’s median. He also asked for a proposal to make footpaths on both sides, greening on both sides of the road, and installing barbed wire fencing on both sides to prevent encroachment.
