Navy sailor found dead onboard INS Vikrant, suicide suspected

In the early wee hours of Thursday, a 19-year-old Indian Navy sailor was found hanging onboard aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. He was said to be a regular cadre, not an Agniveer. Notably, the indigenous aircraft carrier is currently located in Kochi, Kerala.

According to the statement by the Navy, it seems to be a suicide case. “Prime facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. A statutory Board of Inquiry is being ordered,” an official statement said.

The deceased was unmarried and was a native of Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

According to the official statement, the investigation is still on and a case has been registered with the local police.
