At least 18 special trains will be operated on Mumbai‘s suburban railway network on the night of Anant Chaturdashi. Anant Chaturdashi is the last and 10th of the Ganpati festival which will be celebrated on September 28. According to the officials, these special trains will be available for the passengers returning after immersion of Ganesha idols.

According to the official release by the Central Railway, it will run 10 suburban special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan, Thane, and Belapur stations on the intervening night of September 28 and September 29 on the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan.

Divisional Railway Manager- Mumbai Division of Western Railway tweeted, “On 28/09/23, due to Ganpati Immersion, a heavy rush is expected at Charni Road station. On UP through line, all 38 trains which run fast during the peak period (i.e. 17:00 to 20:30 hrs) between Mumbai Central and Churchgate will be provided a halt at all stations.”

Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on September 28, which hold immense significance among Hindus, specially in Maharashtra and Goa. According to Hindu mythology, the 10-day festival marks the birth the birth of Lord Ganesha.
