An incident has been reported from Mumbai’s Dadar area on Saturday morning, where a 60-year-old man has died of suffocation after a fire broke out in a 15-storey residential building.

According to the fire officials, the fire broke out at flat number 1302 on the 13th floor of the Raintree building at Hindu Colony around 8.30 am. The apartment was stuffed with household materials and locked, he informed. Soon after the incident was reported, two fire engines along with a water tanker and other firefighting equipment were pressed to douse the fire.

Soon after getting the information, the fire officials rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Though the fire was brought under control within half an hour of the incident, a resident of the building, Sachin Patkar, became unconscious due to the smoke. He was rushed to the civic-run Sion hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors, as per sources.

However, the exact reason of fire is yet to be ascertained, the official said.
