Mohsin Khan, the Mumbai man who was at the centre of the Mira Road ‘goat’ controversy when he tried to bring in two goats inside his flat for Eid al-Adha, has been booked for molestation.

Khan’s actions triggered a massive row in the housing society, where a large mob tried to prevent him from keeping the goats inside his flat. Khan steadfastly maintained that he would not sacrifice the goats in the housing complex.

In the ruckus that followed, a 63-year-old woman filed an FIR against Mohsin Khan, accusing him of calling her a ‘budhiya’ (old woman), abusing her, and pushing her against the chest. Accordingly, the Kashimira police have booked Khan under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), the report stated.

This new development comes after Mohsin Khan and his family filed a complaint against more than 30 people, accusing them of assaulting him and his wife Yasmin.

“We were assaulted, molested and mentally harassed by the mob that gathered to protest against us,” Khan said earlier.

Resigned from Shiv Sena: Mohsin Khan

In an interview with ANI, Mohsin Khan said, “I joined the Shiv Sena led by chief minister Eknath Shinde a few days back and was appointed shakha pramukh (head) of ward number 8 from Dahisar division. Today, I have resigned from both the party and the post, because I do not want to give this matter a political colour.

“It is a personal matter and thousands of Muslims are standing with me. I do not want to make it communal, because both my religion and I are peace-loving.

“Some radical enemies in the society want to spoil the peace in the country by giving this incident a religious colour. Now, they are doing politics to hide their mistake and have pressurised the police to file an FIR against me.”

Shiv Sena is yet to comment on Mohsin Khan’s claims.
