On February 24, 2023, a shocking incident occurred in Meerut, where a student narrowly escaped a fatal attack during board exams. The incident occurred outside Krishak Inter College in the village Jaisinghpur Nangla of the Mawana police station area. 

Two miscreants, who came intending to kill the student, opened fire in the middle of the road. However, thanks to the swift action of the police, the miscreants were caught and arrested.

Police Chase and Arrest the Miscreants

As soon as the police officers posted at the examination centre heard the gunfire, they immediately sprang into action. SI Rajkumar and Home Guard 1960 Sudesh Kumar, who was on duty at the examination centre, chased the miscreants who had fired at the student. 

After a 10-kilometre chase, with the help of the villagers, they surrounded and nabbed the miscreants in the village Humayupur of Hastinapur police station area. The police also recovered the pistol and cartridges from the accused and seized the Alto car by bringing it to Mawana police station.

Honouring the Brave Officers

The commendable work of the sub-inspector and home guard appointed at Mawana police station did not go unnoticed. SSP Rohit Singh felicitated the officers by giving them a citation for their courageous work of catching both miscreants in a short time.

The Aftermath of the Incident

After registering a case of attempted murder, the police produced the accused in court. From there, they were sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, the student, Nikil’s son Yogendra, who had come to appear for the examination, was safe and unhurt. The timely action of the police prevented a tragedy from occurring.

The incident in Meerut is a stark reminder of the importance of swift and decisive action by the police in times of crisis. The courage and bravery of the officers involved in this case have prevented a tragedy and ensured justice is served. The incident also highlights the need for greater security measures at examination centres to ensure the safety of students during board exams.
