Days after an electric multiple unit (EMU) train derailed and climbed onto a platform at Mathura Junction, a video has surfaced on social media which shows the staffer entering the engine room and putting his bag on the throttle, while getting busy with his mobile phone, and he was mildly drunk, according to the sources.

According to the officials, while narrating the main reason for the accidents it seems that the incident happened after accused entered the engine cab and kept his bag on throttle, and got busy with his mobile phone. Due to pressure on throttle, the button moved into forward position, which led the train move towards the platform, leading to break of overhead wire.

The accused staffer have been identified as Sachin. During the test he was found mildly drunk. Reports also say that breathalyzer test conducted on Sachin showed a reading of 47 mg/100 ml.

The investigation in the case is underway.

Meanwhile, restoration work is underway at UP’s Mathura junction after an EMU train coming from Shakur Basti derailed and climbed onto the platform yesterday.
