The Delhi Police is giving specialised training to 19 women commandos ahead of the upcoming G20 summit that will be held in September in New Delhi.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police are training the women SWAT commandos as proficient ‘markswomen’ for deployment as frontline security guards as well as sharpshooters during all the G20 events that will be held in New Delhi, as per Delhi Police officials.

Delhi Police will provide utmost security to the visiting delegates. So we are giving training to our women commandos,” an official told ANI.

Delhi Police SWAT commandos trained as ‘markswomen’by ITBP

The first batch of 19 women completed the one-month course from a training team of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), as per HGS Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell. The training took place at the ITBP’s training centre in RTC, Karera, Madhya Pradesh.

The closing ceremony of the course, which was held at the ITBP’s Training Institute in Madhya Pradesh, was attended by Ingit Pratap Singh, DCP, SWAT, Special Cell, and Poornima Panthri, ACP, SWAT.

Throughout the training course, which took place in June and July, the SWAT commandos were able to hit a target of 4 cm from a distance of 100 yards (91.44 m).

The commandos were marked and ranked according to their performance, as per officials. The first position was secured by Constable Kiran, who secured 95% marks, and Constable Vaishali secured the second position with 77.5%. Constable Kavita secured the third position with 75% marks.

The 19 SWAT commandos were commended by Surinder Khatri, DIG Head of the Institute, on their performance and disciple during the four-week training.
