After shutting the schools for almost two months, keeping the security of children in the ongoing clashes in Manipur, the schools are all set to open from August 10. According to the order by the education department, the schools will conduct the normal classes for the students of classes 9 to 12 from August 10.According to the information, there are almost 1229 schools in Manipur having Class 9 to 12 run by different managements. However, the order given by the department will not apply to 28 schools that are under the order for resumption of schools under relief measures.Director L Nandakumar Singh of the Directorate of Education (Schools) in an order on Monday said, “All Zonal Education Officers under the Department of Education, Schools Manipur are hereby directed to inform all concerned and take up necessary actions accordingly.”“Separate order for resumption of these schools will be issued later. Adequate compulsory measures will be taken up for the students of these schools to prevent any learning loss,” it added.It is to be noted here that the state government has taken the data which claims that at least 4747 students live in the relief camps.All the schools in Manipur have been closed after the clashes got erupted in the state on May 4, 2023. The schools announced the summer vacation from May 4 to May 30, 2023, and the issuance of subsequent orders in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state.Before this also, the Directorate of Education (Schools) had planned to resume the normal classes for all the schools in the state from June 21 but it deferred till July 1, 2023, and finally, the normal classes for Class 1 to 8 were resumed in the state from July 5, 2023, witnessing very low attendance.
