A major attempt to breach Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security was reported in Varanasi on Saturday when his convoy was on its way from Rudraksha International Cooperation and Convention Centre to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport. At that time, a man jumped in front of PM Modi’s convoy, asking for a job.

Man tries to breach PM Modi’s security in Varanasi, held immediately

The man, identified as Krishna Kumar, is himself a BJP worker. He was immediately held by the police and security officials after this incident and is being questioned now. Kumar, hailing from Ghazipur, was just 20 metres away from PM Modi’s convoy.

According to the police, Krishna is a resident of Ghazipur and wanted to meet PM Modi.

An official said, “Krishna Kumar, son of Bharat Kumar, is a senior BJP worker. He is mentally disturbed and wanted to meet PM Modi.”

On Saturday, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a new international cricket stadium set to be built in Varanasi.

The stadium, which is expected to be completed by December 2025, will be the third of its kind in Uttar Pradesh, following those in Kanpur and Lucknow.
