A 45-year-old technician at a railway station in the national capital was apprehended for allegedly killing a co-worker who was asking him to return the money she had loaned him, said the police.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Zakir – a technical supervisor at Nizamuddin Railway Station, has allegedly killed the victim by stabbing her multiple times on her neck and later pouring acid on her face and body to hide her identity, according to the police.

The police said the victim, who was a clerk at the railway station, had given ₹11 lakh to the accused after taking personal loans in 2018 and 2019. Her body was recovered by Greater Noida police on Saturday near Sector 148 Metro Station.

The complaint was lodged by the victim’s daughter, after she went mission on September 08. The next day, they approached Ambedkar Nagar police station and filed a mission report, said a senior official.

On September 09 evening, the victim’s family members received a call around 8 pm from Knowledge Park police station of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh informing them about the death of the mother. After this, a murder case was filed at Ambedkar Nagar police station, said the police.

Victim was under stress: Police

Briefing about the investigation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said that accused Zakir had not returned the amount to the victim due to which she was under stress.

The investigation further revealed that the victim left her office around 2 pm and Zakir was on leave on September 08. When police tried to trace his mobile phone, it was found switched off.

Later, the police got to the location of the suspect and conducted raids for over 20 hours at more than 60 locations in Subhash Vihar and arrested the accused, the DCP said.

How accused execute this heinous plan?

In the interrogation, the accused then said that the victim was pressurising him to return the money, following which he planned to kill her, police added.

The accused took her to Noida’s Knowledge Park and allegedly killed her with an iron dagger, police said. He then cleverly poured acid on her face and body to hide her identity, and hid the weapon and acid near the bushes of an electric pole at Sector 148, Noida, they said.
