Man in Bengal commits suicide after Team India's defeat in World Cup 2023 final

The incident was reported near the Beliatore Cinema Hall area of Bankura in Bengal on Sunday.

After being devastated by India's defeat in the ICC men's Cricket World Cup final, a 23-year-old man has committed suicide in the Bankura area of West Bengal.

The event occurred on Sunday night in the vicinity of Bankura's Beliatore Cinema Hall.

The man, identified by the authorities as ‘cricket maniac’ Rahul Lohar, had taken time off to watch the last match. Soon after, India lost the championship match, he hanged himself in his room.

Reports also added that no one was at home when the incident happened. 

Soon after getting the call, local police reached the incident spot and recovered the body of the victim and sent it for post-mortem.

Speaking about the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police of Bankura, Siddharth Dorjee, informed that the investigation in connection with the case is underway. meanwhile, the police have registered a case of unnatural death and has sent the body for the postmortem at Bankura Sammilani Medical College.

Notably, India lost to Australia by six wickets in World Cup 2023 finals in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
