A man has been arrested on Tuesday from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after 19 live cartridges were recovered from his possession, airport officials have confirmed.

The man, identified as Ajay Kumar Bana, was travelling from Delhi to Bengaluru on an Air India Flight.

According to Delhi Police, the man was unable to produce any valid documentation for carrying live cartridges at the time of onboarding, and as a result, was detained by the police.

A case has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959 at IGI Airport police station. Further probe is underway on the matter.

Multiple people arrested in Delhi Airport for carrying ammunition

The recent incident is the latest in a number of cases where people have entered Delhi Airport carrying ammunition and cartridges.

A woman, Yashi Singh, was arrested on Sunday while travelling from Delhi to Mumbai on an Akasa Air flight for carrying 20 live ammunition and 3 empty cartridges.

Another man, Amrish Bishnoi, was arrested on June 29 for carrying six live cartridges in his luggage.

Both were charged under the Arms Act by Delhi Police for carrying ammunition without documentation.
