A fire incident in Maharashtra’s Pune killed four people, including 2 minors. According to the police the fire was caused after a truck caught fire following a collision on Monday night.

The accident is said to have taken place near the Swaminarayan temple and Navle bridge on the Pune-Bangaluru highway at around 09.30 pm, killing four people, the officials said.

The police also added that in the prima facie, it appears that due to a brake failure, the truck collided with a container and then went on to hit another truck, after which it caught fire.

A team of officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire department reached the accident spot and extinguished the flames upon receiving the information immediately. Moreover, the bodies of the victims were removed from the burning truck and taken to a hospital for further investigation.

As per the police report, there were six people in the truck at the time of the accident. “Four of them died, while two others managed to escape by jumping off the truck. They also sustained injuries in the accident,” they said.

“The victims have however not been identified yet,” they added.

Further investigation is underway, the police said.
