Newborn found dead in Mumbai hospital trash: Cops

The body of a newborn baby girl was discovered in the toilet waste at Sion Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday, according to police.

Doctors examined the deceased newborn after she was found by hospital cleaning staff. As part of their routine duties, the cleaning personnel noticed an unusually heavy garbage bag in the hospital's casualty department. Upon inspecting the contents, they discovered the body of the infant inside a black bag.

Police have filed a case against an unknown individual and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

In a separate incident in September this year, a newborn girl was abandoned outside Navi Mumbai's Laxmi Hospital. Officials stated that the 4-5 day-old infant was alive when found.
