Pune, Maharashtra: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, on Saturday, addressed the departure of members from the party, particularly Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, urging a shift in focus from those who left to addressing citizens' concerns.
Without directly mentioning Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar emphasised, "We don't have to be worried about those who left the party. Instead of worrying about it, we should take up the issues of citizens and get them resolved." He urged the party to strengthen its youth leaders, expressing confidence that doing so would lead to significant success in upcoming elections.
Pawar urged the party to engage in ideological outreach and connect with the people. He stated, "So I am sure if we could do this, we would see young leaders rising."
Responding to Ajit Pawar's announcement to contest elections from Baramati and Shirur constituencies, Sharad Pawar acknowledged their right to contest from any seat if they adhere to constitutional norms. He emphasised that the decision ultimately rests with the people.
With Maharashtra gearing up for elections next year, the political landscape has witnessed shifts. The Mahavikas Aghadi, comprising Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, initially in power, faced disruptions leading to the formation of a new government by Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and BJP.
Ajit Pawar's defection from the NCP to align with the BJP further altered the political dynamics, resulting in the current Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP.
As Maharashtra anticipates upcoming elections, Sharad Pawar's focus on citizen-centric issues and youth leadership aims to steer the party towards a positive and impactful direction.
