A 42-year-old man, identified as Moinuddin Nasrullah Ansari, was arrested on Saturday for the murder of his 36-year-old wife in Mumbai's Borivali suburb. The deceased woman was named Parveen Moinuddin Ansari by police.
According to authorities, the married couple resided beside railway tracks between Goregaon and Malad stations. Police allege Parveen was fatally assaulted by Moinuddin after refusing to provide him money to purchase alcohol.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared Parveen brought dead on arrival, apparently due to the severity of injuries sustained.
Borivali Government Railway Police have registered a case against Moinuddin under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He was apprehended by officials in Malwani, as Malad was attempting to flee the city, the police said.
