Central Railway RPF recovers 'stolen property' worth Rs 1.38 crore since April 

According to the release, the Central Railway Railway Protection Force retrieved stolen property worth Rs. 1.38 crore in eight months in Mumbai.

The Central Railway Railway Protection Force (RPF) has recovered stolen property worth Rs 1.38 crore during April-November 2023, as per an official release. This forms part of RPF's 'Operation Yatri Suraksha' to strengthen real-time emergency response and prevent passenger-related crimes.

Among Central Railway's divisions, the RPF unit in Solapur led recovery efforts with stolen items worth Rs 99.29 lakh retrieved across 33 cases. A total of 102 accused were prosecuted in these cases.

Mumbai division registered the highest number of 169 theft cases, with prosecution of 287 individuals. Property worth Rs 8.88 lakh was recovered here.

Bhusawal division saw 77 theft cases with 159 prosecutions and recovery of stolen goods worth Rs 23.80 lakh.

Nagpur division registered 56 cases and prosecuted 170 persons, recovering stolen property of around Rs 4.09 lakh.

Pune division recorded 37 cases, 78 prosecutions and recovery of stolen goods amounting to Rs 2.10 lakh.

The proactive efforts of Central Railway RPF personnel have ensured vital belongings like cash, jewellery and documents abandoned by passengers could be promptly traced and returned to their rightful owners in many instances.

RPF's intensified crackdown aims to increase prosecution rates and boost passenger confidence in rail security. The force has been undertaking awareness drives while upgrading surveillance systems across Central Railway's sections. Its stolen property recovery initiatives will continue ongoing.
