Mohan Yadav, new CM of Madhya Pradesh: In the aftermath of the recent Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious, sparking discussions about the potential appointment of a new Chief Minister. The speculations have now materialised, with Mohan Yadav set to assume the role of the new CM for Madhya Pradesh. Currently serving as the MLA from Ujjain South, Yadav secured victories in the 2013, 2018, and 2023 elections, making him a prominent political figure in the state.
The proposal for Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh came from the incumbent Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Amidst earlier reports suggesting a potential change in leadership, Chauhan expressed his readiness to take on any role assigned by the party. Speculations also circulate about Chauhan's possible entry into central politics.
Mohan Yadav previously held the position of Higher Education Minister in the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government. Recognized as a formidable Yadav face in Madhya Pradesh's BJP politics, Yadav's political journey began with his election as an MLA in 2013. He is associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Sangh, having served as the President of the Student Union and City Minister in 1984.
Mohan Yadav's political career has not been without controversy. In the 2020 by-elections, he faced a ban from campaigning for a day imposed by the Election Commission due to his use of intemperate language.
Additionally, a noteworthy incident during the Independence Day parade in 2021 brought attention to Yadav when his vehicle displayed an inverted tricolour during the parade. The incident led to public criticism, with Yadav blaming the driver and promising corrective action.
As Mohan Yadav assumes the role of Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, his political journey, controversies, and contributions will shape the state's political landscape.
