The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the second list of candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections on Monday. The second list of 39 candidates included the minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare of India, Narendra Singh Tomar, minister of state for food processing industries of India, Prahlad Singh Patel and minister of state for rural development of India, Faggan Singh Kulaste.

Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Prahlad Singh Patel have been fielded from the Dimani and Narsingpur constituencies respectively. Union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste will be contesting from the Niwas constituency.

The party also appointed several MPs from Madhya Pradesh. MP Uday Pratap Singh will contest assembly polls from Gadarwara, and MP Riti Pathak will contest from Sidhi consistently.

Roadmap to win

Earlier, the central election committee of the party held a high-level meeting to decide on a roadmap for the seats that the BJP failed to win in the previous assembly elections.

BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, State BJP President VD Sharma, and State Organization Secretary Hitanand Sharma were present at the meeting.

Assembly polls are due in four states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram in November-December. This will be the last round of state elections before the Parliamentary election in 2024.

The BJP runs the government in Madhya Pradesh while the Congress is in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The BRS runs the government in Telangana while the Mizo National Front holds power in Mizoram.
