Madhya Pradesh Assembly Polls: Congress demands high-level security at counting centres

Congress requested through the letter to prevent any kind of anti-social elements.

Ahead of vote counting, Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to Madhya Pradesh's chief electoral officer (CEO). Piyush Babele, the media adviser of Kamal Nath shared a post on the microblogging platform X (formally Twitter) alleging that the BJP leader granted permission to party workers to disrupt the counting centers. He tweeted, "BJP's conspiracy exposed. The counting agent is being asked to create a whirlwind. BJP wants to create havoc in vote counting. BJP wants to loot power but this time Congress workers will bite the dust". 

The Congress party workers have demanded a high level of security at district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh where, on Sunday, the vote counting of 230 assembly seats will take place. While the state BJP has called the video a fake and tampered.

Congress leaders submits memorandum

Earlier on Friday, Congress leaders including JP Dhanopia and Rajeev Singh submitted the memorandum to the CEO.

The letter reads, “It is requested that the counting of votes for the Assembly elections 2023 in the state is scheduled to take place at all the district headquarters. But due to the fear of defeat, the BJP is planning to spread unrest. A meeting was organised at the BJP office in which they talked about creating a ruckus at the counting centers. 

Furthermore, it added, "The video of the said meeting held at the BJP head office is going viral in which BJP workers have been warned to influence the counting of votes by creating a storm on the counting day and creating unrest." 

The Congress requested through the letter to prevent any kind of anti-social elements.

BJP denies allegations

Meanwhile, BJP media in-charge Ashish Agrawal said, "The video is nothing but an imagination of the Congress which they tried to circulate by tampering with the original one. The opposition leaders are trying hard to create an appropriate reason behind losing the assembly election in MP."
