Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023: In anticipation of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election results, former Chief Minister of the state, Digvijaya Singh, aimed a "traitor" jibe at Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The political banter intensifies as the state braces for the outcome of the recently held polls.

Speaking to reporters in Bhopal, Digvijaya Singh responded to questions about potential horse-trading ahead of the vote count. He stated, "We are fully prepared. Now we have no Scindia left, hence there is no traitor." This follows a similar remark by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who referred to Scindia as a 'traitor' during a public rally in Datia.

Scindia's Political Shift

Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from the Congress party in March 2020, leading to a political upheaval in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress government collapsed after Scindia and his loyal MLAs joined the BJP.

Confidence in Congress Victory

Despite the political sparring, Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh expressed confidence in the Congress's prospects. He predicted the party winning more than 130 seats in the state. Singh commented, "Tomorrow we will know where CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan stands. We will win more than 130 seats, not less than that in Madhya Pradesh."

Allegations of Horse Trading

Responding to Congress's demand for extra security forces amid concerns about horse trading, Digvijaya Singh accused the BJP of engaging in business rather than politics.

Congress Leaders' Optimism

Jaivardhan Singh, Congress leader and son of Digvijaya Singh, echoed optimism about the party's performance. He highlighted the public's dissatisfaction with the BJP's arrogance and expressed confidence in securing a clear majority.

Anticipation Builds Ahead of Results

As Madhya Pradesh awaits the results of the 230-seat election held on November 17, political tension rises. Exit polls suggest a lead for the BJP in most projections, while some indicate a favourable outcome for the Congress party. The official results will unveil the voters' verdict and shape the political landscape in the state.
