A strange incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow when city mayor Sushma Kharakwal was asked to remove her shoes by the doctors during a visit to the facility. This simple request turned into a heated altercation between the mayor and the hospital administration.

What happened at the hospital?

This incident happened on Monday (August 21), when the mayor visit the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) at a hospital in the city.

Amid this ruckus, later, the poster was put up outside the hospital premises and a bulldozer was brought. However, the heated situation come to a halt after police reached the spot.

Reportedly, a retired soldier from the Army brigade of the municipal corporation, identified as Suren Kumar, was being treated at the ICU of Vinayak Medicare, a private hospital located in Lucknow’s Thana Bijnaur.

Taking notes from the situation, the hospital administration said Mayor Sushma Kharakwal and her colleagues attempted to enter the ICU wearing shoes, which they obstructed.

However, hospital director Mudrika Singh claimed the reports of the ruckus as ‘false.’

Speaking to the media, Singh said that the mayor had visited the hospital and interacted with the doctor.

Hospital director blames social media for misleading news

She added, “There was no altercation between them.”

“Media and social platforms are circulating misleading news regarding the meeting between the mayor and the doctors. These claims are completely unfounded and should not be propagated,” Singh said.
