The Aligarh District Legal Services Authority is organising a Lok Adalat on May 13, where cases of various natures pending in the courts and departments will be disposed of in a single day. The aim is to offer quicker resolution and reduce the consequent hearings in cases that can be resolved with intervention.

Lok Adalat is a people’s court where no fee is charged, and the decision is final and binding, with no further appeal process available. The Lok Adalat will start from the district level to the Tehsil level.

Dinesh Kumar Nagar, Secretary of the Aligarh District Legal Services Authority, announced that a mobile Lok Adalat van would run for publicity in both urban and rural areas. District Judge Dr. Babbu Sarang will flag the van off on March 13 at 10.30 AM at the ADR Bhawan intersection of the civil court complex.

Cases Focused

The Lok Adalat will settle various cases, such as criminal compounding cases, section 138 NIACT, money recovery cases, motor accident compensation cases, labour cases, Electricity Act and cases related to water tax, family and matrimonial litigation, land acquisition litigation, service-related litigation, other civil litigation, and litigation of other natures that are pending in the courts.

Also, prelitigation cases of family, matrimonial disputes, and various departments will be settled based on a mutual conciliation agreement.

Lok Adalat – A quick resolution

Lok Adalat has become an effective tool for reducing the burden on the Indian judiciary system. It aims to resolve disputes amicably through mutual consent and reconciliation. The court proceedings in Lok Adalat are informal and flexible, emphasising conciliation and compromise between the parties involved.

Conclusion

National Lok Adalat on May 13 is a golden opportunity for people to get their cases resolved in a cost-effective and time-saving manner. The Aligarh District Legal Services Authority is taking the necessary steps to create awareness among people, and the mobile van will reach out to those in remote areas. The Lok Adalat’s informal and conciliatory approach ensures that disputes are resolved quickly and amicably.
