Rain and cool winds on Sunday brought down the temperature on the concluding day of the G20 Summit. As the national capital temperature was above 35 degrees Celsius the whole week, light rain brought down the mercury, resulting in the best AQI this year.

According to the Commission For Air Quality Index (CAQM), Delhi recorded an average AQI of 45, which falls in the good category. Rain and winds brought down the temperature in the national capital where the maximum temperature was recorded at 28.3 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 23.5 degrees Celsius.

Inconvenience due to rain

Besides a dip in temperature, it has also caused some inconvenience to the people as waterlogging and fallen trees were reported from several areas.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD) and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) received several complaints from various locations of waterlogging and fallen trees. However, they took instant action and also ensured that the G20 Summit venue and the hotels where the delegates stayed were free from any water stagnation.

Rain lashes paths of Delhi

On Sunday, between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM various parts of the national capital recorded varying amounts of rainfall.
The area of Safdarjung measured 1.3 mm of rain, whereas, Palam and Lodhi roads recorded 0.2 mm and 0.8 mm of rain respectively. Gurgaon had the highest rainfall of 7.5 mm among all the other cities.
The meteorological department forecasted cloudy skies with the possibility of very light rain in some places on Monday. The maximum and the minimum temperature of the capital city are likely to be around 32 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. The air quality is also expected to remain in the good category.

Lt Governor VK Saxena thanked the “Rain Gods” for bringing down the temperature of Delhi and making the stay of G20 Summit delegates more special.
