The CBI, in its charge sheet, has mentioned that irregular appointments were made in the railways, violating laid down norms and procedures of Indian Railways for recruitment. Land-for-job case

According to the CBI, the family of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president allegedly paid Rs 26 lakh for more than 1 lakh square feet of land, despite the circular rate at the time placing the land’s total value at more than Rs 4.39 crore. In the FIR, sixteen people are charged. In addition to the 12 persons who were hired in the railway zones of Bombay, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur, they include Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and his daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav.

Case of disproportionate assets

Land-for-job is not the only case filed against the family. A disproportionate assets complaint was filed against Lalu in 1998. Rabri was cited as a co-accused for aiding the crime by the Income-Tax department, which asserted that Lalu had stolen Rs 46 lakh from the government coffers. Both of them were acquitted in the case on 2006. Rabri Devi was chief minister of Bihar and was granted bail. Both, thereafter surrendered before the court in 2000.
