Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took to Twitter to express the significance of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. He explained how the project would help contribute to the growth trajectory of Karnataka. PM tweeted, “An important connectivity which will contribute to Karnataka’s growth trajectory.” The project will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12.
According to reports, the 118-km expressway will be built at a cost of Rs 8,408 crore. This expressway will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from 3.5 hours to 1.5 hours.
The Prime Minister via twitter responded to the tweet thread of Union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, where in Gadkari informed that how the expressway will help people and informed that the construction of the Bengaluru Mysuru expressway aims to improve the accessibility to Coorg, Ooty, Shrirangpatna, and Kerala. This will also boost tourism.
The project encircles a portion of Nation Highway- 275, entails the development of four rail overbridges, nine significant bridges, 40 minor bridges, and 89 under passes and overpasses, will be the part of it. The expressway will be built with a six-lane stretch, along with two side service lanes on either side of the expressway. the total will be 10-line expressway will be built. Earlier Nitin Gadkari, had given the details about the connectivity through the project via Twitter.
“Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has resulted in all round development in the region through backward and forward integration. Thanks to PM @narendramodi Ji & Union Roads & Transport Minister @nitin_gadkari Ji for world class infrastructure in the state,” Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai also tweeted.
According to the official information, the high-speed corridor will be made in two phases, first would be measuring 61 km between Nidaghatta and Mysore and the second would be 58 km between Bengaluru and Nidaghatta. The highway also has elevated corridors that are 8 km long, 42 small bridges, 64 underpasses, 11 overpasses, four Road-Over-Bridges (ROBs), and five bypasses.
In the view of inauguration of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway by Prime Minister Modi on March 12, vehicles plying on the road will be diverted to alternate routes from 6 am to 6 pm. The action has been taken in interest of security of the VIPs participating in the programme.
The order came on March 7 after the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya, ordered the diversion to be followed by all type of vehicles. The following routes will be diverted:
The vehicles proceeding from Mysuru to Bengaluru via Mandya will be diverted to Mysuru-Bannur-Kirugavalu-Malavalli-Halagur-Kanakapura-Bengaluru route.
Vehicles proceeding from Mysuru to Tumakuru via Mandya will diverted to Mysuru-Srirangapatna-Pandavapura-Nagamangala-Bellur Cross-Tumakuru route.
Vehicles proceeding from Tumkur to Mysuru via Maddur and Mandya will be diverted to Tumakuru-Bellur Cross-Nagamangala-Pandavapura-Srirangapatna-Mysuru route.
Vehicles proceeding to Kollegal-MM Hills via Maddur will be diverted to Bengaluru-Channapatna-Halagur-Malavalli-Kollegal-MM Hills route.
The project will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12. Reportedly, the PM will also participate in a rally in Mandya. The road show is expected to start at Inspection Banglow Circle and pass through Sanjay Circle and wind up at Nanda Circle. The rally will cover a distance of 1.5 kms approx.
During the Karnataka visit, it is expected that the Prime Minister will lay the foundations of projects worth Rs 16,000 crore. Apart from the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, he will also lay the foundations of the Mysuru-Khushalnagar four lane highway. The project will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,130 crore and will be 92 kms long. It will boost connectivity between Khusalnagar and Bengaluru and will reduce the travelling time from 5 hours to 2.5 hours.
Thereafter, the PM will fly to Hubballi, where he will dedicate the IIT Dharwad to the nation, the foundation for this was laid in February 2019 and is built at the cost of over Rs 850 crore. Apart from this, he way also lay the foundation for many other projects in Karnataka during his visit.
