The portfolios were distributed two days after the Karnataka cabinet reached its maximum size of 34, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah holding the Finance ministry and his deputy DK Shivakumar receiving the Major and Medium Irrigation and Bengaluru City Development ministries.
In addition to this, CM Siddaramaiah has retained all unallocated portfolios and the departments of Cabinet Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, IT, and BT Infrastructure Development.
DK Shivakumar will be in charge of the BBMP, BWSSB, BMRDA, BMRCL, and BDA under the Bengaluru City Development Ministry.
The Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has been awarded to Priyank Kharge, a Chittapur MLA and the son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
In the state of Karnataka, the Crucial Home Ministry has been allocated to G Parameshwara.
The Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation, and Tourism have been given to HK Patil. Dinesh Gundu Rao, a former minister, was given the Health and Family Welfare Ministry. Except Muzrai, former minister and Batarayanapur MLA Krishna Byregowda received the Revenue Ministry.
The Ministry of Education has been given to MC Sudhakar, and the Ministry of Planning and Statistics has been given to D Sudhakar.
Notably, on May 27, 24 new ministers took their oaths of office, bringing the Karnataka cabinet’s total membership to 34. On May 20, eight ministers as well as the chief minister Siddaramaiah and the deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar took the oath.
The eight MLAs who took their oath of office on May 20 included Priyank Kharge, son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, as well as party MLAs G Parameshwara and MB Patil.
The expansion of the Karnataka cabinet has been done after the Chief Minister and Shivakumar held the leadership.
