Janmashtami holds a great significance among Hindus and is celebrated with enthusiasm. People follow many rituals to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. This year, Janmashtami will be celebrated on September 6 and 7.
The festival is celebrated on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapada month, according to Hindu Panchang. Lord Krishna took birth on earth during Rohini Nakshatra, so this Nakshatra also holds great significance. This year, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated for two consecutive days i.e., on September 6 and 7, 2023.

Although, the festival is celebrated in all the temples across the world, but Mathura, in Uttar Pradesh holds a special importance, as Lord Krishna took birth here. Every year, the city is lit up with colourful lights and decoration. This year also, Mathura has been decked up ahead of Janmashtami celebration.

While talking to ANI, Mathura Municipal Commissioner Anunaya Jha, informed that Nagar Nigam Mathura and Vrindavan has installed mobile toilets and have deployed 500 workers to ensure cleanliness.
