Update (May 30, 11:02 am): At least 10 people have killed and 55 got injured after the bus fell into gorge in Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday morning. According to the officials the bus was on his way to Katra from Amritsar.


8 killed after Katra-bound bus falls into gorge in Jammu

At least eight pilgrims who were travelling by bus along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway when it crashed into a gorge on its route to the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir were killed, and several others were hurt.

As per police officials, an accident occurred at Jhajjar Kotli hamlet while the bus was travelling from Amritsar to Katra. According to officials, the majority of the pilgrims are from Bihar. The Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu has taken four badly hurt pilgrims and others have been admitted to local health centre.

According to the statement of the Deputy Commissioner, “Eight people are killed and 4 others are seriously injured in the mishap. The bus was going from Amritsar to Katra when it fell into a deep gorge near Jhajjar Kotli.”

The State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) is launching a rescue operation while the police have opened a case.
