After two weeks of communal clashes erupted in Haryana’s Nuh district, Internet services are now back in the violence-hit district. During the clashes, six people lost their lives including two Home Guards and a Mosque cleric, and several others were injured.

Haryana restores internet services in Nuh district

Amid the prevailing situation in Nuh district, mobile internet, SMS and broadband services were suspended to maintain harmony and peace in the affected areas. Also, no provoking message could further circulate on social media.

According to the reports, six people were killed and several others injured in the communal violence that later spilt over to Gurugram, Palwal, Faridabad and other districts of Haryana.

Many vehicles, restaurants and shops were vandalised and torched by the unruly mobs.

Why Nuh violence erupted?

Reportedly, the main reason behind Nuh violence was the rumours that cow vigilante Monu Manesar would attend the religious procession in Nuh, leading to a massive outrage and violence eruption in Haryana.

The cow vigilante is said to have posted a video on the internet in which he claimed to be attending the religious procession and called on his supporters to come out in large numbers in Nuh.

However, Manesar said he did not attend the gathering at the advice of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which feared that his presence would create tensions in the area.

SIT will be formed

Taking notes from the clashes, an SIT (special investigation team) will be formed to probe into this matter, said the police.

Around 390 people have been arrested and 118 others detained in connection with the violence so far, officials said.

Moreover, over 100 FIRs have been filed by police for incendiary social media posts, the police said, adding that some accounts have also been identified that posted inflammatory content amid the violence.
