Residents of Delhi woke up to a cloudy morning on Saturday, with the minimum temperature in the national capital settling at 26.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the reports of IMD, Delhi is likely to experience cloudy skies with light rain during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 35 degrees Celsius. The Air Quality Index (AQI) also stood at 73 around 9 am in Delhi.

IMD predicts weather for next few days

Delhi-Ncr saw heavy rainfall with gusty winds on Friday morning, bringing much-needed respite from the heat. According to IMD, the low-pressure area which was over the Bay of Bengal moved inland and intensified. The pressure now lies over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh region.

Moreover, the monsoon trough is moving south of its normal position bringing more rainfall in Delhi and it’s nearby regions. The weather agency also says that Delhi will experience light to moderate rainfall for the next five days.

With the rain on Friday, the normal temperature in Delhi down to a minimum of 23.7 degrees Celsius, one notch below the average for the season. Relative humidity was recorded at 100% at 8.30 am.

Following the rain, many regions in Delhi-NCR saw water logging which slowed down the early morning vehicular traffic. Traffic jams were witnessed in many parts of the city as the Akshardham Temple Metro Station and various road stretches including Vikas Marg.

The Sangam Vihar area also faced waterlogging that caused inconvenience for the locals. An alert was issued by the Delhi traffic police informing about the traffic affecting the Rohtak Road on both the carriageways from Rajdhani Park towards Tikri Border.
