The schedule for the metro trains has been designed and changed to ensure that passengers will have a comfortable and convenient journey during the festival. Keeping the Holi festival in mind, the timings for the Delhi Metro, Mumbai Metro and Lucknow Metro has been changed for March 8.  

Delhi Metro schedule:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, on Monday announced that all the metro trains will start operating at 14.30 hrs, i.e. 2.30 pm, the service of metro will not be available before 2.30 pm on the day of Holi, March 8, including the Rapid Metro/Airport Express Line and will run regularly for the remainder of the day i.e. until 11 pm. According to the information, Metro train services will start at 2:30 pm from terminal stations on all lines and will continue normally thereafter. Metro feeder bus services will also resume after 2.30 pm on March 8.

DMRC in an official statement said, “The metro services will not be available till 2:30 pm on all lines of Delhi Metro including the Rapid Metro/Airport Express Line. It is advised that if you have a flight in the morning, you don’t rely on public transport on March 8.”

Delhi Police advisory

Moreover, Delhi Police has also issued a safety advisory. Special checking teams consisting 2,033 officers will be deployed across the city. They will be operating from 287 major intersections and 233 drunken points for Holi celebrations, to detect the traffic violations. Radar Guns will also be deployed at various vulnerable roads to check over-speeding incidences.

“Delhi Police will keep a check on black films, triple riding, underage driving and without a helmet driving. Mobile pickets will also do random checking for liquors and police will take strict action against drunk driving,” Delhi Police said in a statement.

According to the guidelines of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, a driver’s licence will be seized and subject to suspension for a least of three months in situations of drunk driving, running red lights, using a phone while driving, dangerous driving, and over-speeding. Action must also be taken against the registered owners of any cars that are discovered to be being operated by children, unauthorised individuals, stunt drivers, unlicensed drivers, etc.

Mumbai Metro schedule:

On the occasion of Holi festival, Mumbai metro has also announced the change in the timings. Mumbai metro lines 2A and 7, has changed the schedule only for the day March 7. The metro train will be operational at an interval of 15 minutes. However, after 3 pm, metro will run with the headway of 10 minutes. The decision was taken looking into the need and safety of passengers. The timings for the first and last metro will remain unchanged.

SVR. Srinivas IAS, CMD at Maha Mumbai Metro Opeartion Corporation Limited said, “We understand the importance of this festival and the need for passengers to reach their destinations on time. Hence, MMMOCL assures Mumbaikars, that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey, We wish everyone a happy and safe Holi.”

Lucknow Metro schedule:

Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation, has announced the change in the timings. The metro will run from 2.30 pm onwards on the day of the Holi, i.e. March 8. The service on both the terminals CCS Airport Metro station and Munshipulia Metro station and will run normally thereafter 10 om on Wednesday.

Indian Railways to run special trains on Holi

For the comfort of passengers, the Railways is operating 491 runs of 196 special trains during Holi, according to an official statement. These trains will connect important cities across the nation.

The Railways ministry announced on Monday that “special trains have been planned to connect significant locations across the country,” including Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa, Gorakhpur-Mumbai, Kolkata-Puri, Guwahati-Ranchi, and New Delhi- Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
