Heavy rains in north India have submerged people in knee-deep water, claiming 19 lives in the past three days, according to the reports.
The weather department has predicted more downpours for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Delhi, and its adjoining areas over the next couple of days.
According to the reports, in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand many houses, and structures got damaged due to landslides and flash floods, and has disrupted normal life. Areas surrounding Manali, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Chamba as all major rivers including Ravi, Sutlej, Beas, Swan, and Chenab are in-spate.
Apart from this, Panchvaktra Bridge in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi collapsed on Sunday due to heavy rains. Reports claim that the reason behind the collapse of the bridge collapse is the rise in water levels of the river following heavy rains.

Given the warning for the heavy rains and landslides by the India Meteorological Department, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has requested people to be alert. Taking it to Twitter, he said, “I again request the people of Himachal, please stay inside your homes for the next 24 hours because there is a chance of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours…we have arranged 3 helpline numbers 1100, 1070 and 1077…you can call these numbers in case of any emergency and I will also be available 24 hours…”: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
