Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, visited the milk processing factory in Dhagwar, in the Kangra District, on Wednesday and declared that the state would spend Rs 250 crore to enhance the facilities.

According to the information, “To boost the rural economy, the government plans to collect milk from cattle farmers and sell milk by-products. The “Him-Ganga” strategy, which aims to create a milk-based economy in the state, will be implemented by the government in order to accomplish this.”

“Under the “Him-Ganga” scheme, cattle rearers will receive fair prices for their milk based on the real cost, and efforts will be made to enhance the quality and efficiency of milk procurement, processing, and marketing systems,” it stated.

The government will also shield milk producers from regional and seasonal price changes, especially those who come from lower socioeconomic classes, it said. The “Him-Ganga” plan has received a Rs 500 crore allocation, and it will be introduced as a pilot programme by connecting farmers before progressively spreading to other areas.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also said Milk Producers’ Cooperative Societies will be established as needed to increase the income of the farmers. This will also ensure the effective marketing of milk and its products through these cooperatives.

RS Bali, CPS Kishori Lal, MLA Kewal Singh Pathania, Vishal Chambiyal, Vice Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation, Sanjay Chauhan, Chairman of the Agriculture Development Bank, and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Prof. Chander Kumar, the minister of agriculture, praised the Chief Minister’s initiatives to boost the rural economy.

“The Congress party has guaranteed the purchase of cow milk at Rs 80 per litre and buffalo milk at Rs 100 per litre, indicating a forthcoming milk revolution in Himachal Pradesh,” the minister claimed.

Sudhir Sharma, a local MLA, thanked the chief minister for creating a plan to improve the Dhagwar Milk Plant.

Later, the Chief Minister visited the Narwana Bio Diversity Park location.
