The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar met with the family of Major Aashish Dhonchak who lost his life in an Anantnag encounter. He also promised to provide a sum of ₹ 50 lakh in compensation.
Major Aashish lost his life in the ongoing encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag and his mortal remains were brought to his residence in Panipat on Friday.
After meeting with the family member of the deceased jawan, Manohar Lal Khattar promised monetary compensation to the family and also said about providing a job to Major Aashish’s wife, according to media reports.
He said “Major Aashish Dhonchak was a promising young man. He reached the rank of Major in 11 years of his service. He was the only brother of three sisters, so it was a very difficult situation. The government will give ₹ 50 lakh in compensation and his wife will also be given a job by the government. To keep his name immortal, the government will do whatever it can.”

Major Aashish fell victim to the enemy’s firing during the encounter in the Kokernag area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday. He was the sole brother of three sisters and had a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
Major Aashish Dhonchak, Colonel Manpreet Singh, and Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat were the victims of the firing in Anantnag, officials said. Colonel Manpreet Singh was commanding the Quick Response Team (QRT) of the Rashtriya Rifles, and Humayun Bhat was the Deputy Superintendent of the Jammu and Kashmir police.
DSP Bhat was laid to eternal rest on Wednesday after his last rights were performed in Budgam.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha also expressed his grief over the death of the officers in the encounter and tributes to the DSP Bhat at Budgam on Wednesday.
“Paid tributes to JKP’s DySP Humayun Bhat, who laid down his life in an anti-terror operation in Anantnag. I salute the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of Col Manpreet Singh & Major Ashish Dhonack. Entire nation stands firmly with their families in this hour of grief,” LG’s office said in a post on the social media platform, X.
