Following a Wednesday Supreme Court ruling, security has been stepped up in several nearby districts and bordering states including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh following the violence that hit Haryana’s Nuh. Six people have been murdered as a result of the violence that started during a religious procession in Nuh, Haryana, on Monday.

Security strengthened in Haryana’s Nuh as curfew is imposed here following clashes between two groups.

Internet shut in many districts of Haryana

In order to prevent any disturbances to peace and public order in the aftermath of the communal confrontations, the Haryana government announced on Wednesday that mobile internet and SMS services in Nuh and certain other locations inside the state will be blocked till August 5.

In addition to Nuh, the internet services will also be suspended in Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram’s subdivisions Sohna, Pataudi, and Manesar.

Due to ‘intense communal tension’ and disruption of the public peace, the government had ordered the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in the Nuh district starting at 4 pm on Monday. Later, limitations were also placed in place in certain other areas until August 2.

Meanwhile, the chief minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar during a press conference on Wednesday informed that Haryana Police has arrested 116 people in connection with the violence so far. In addition to this, he appealed people not to believe any rumours.
