A shocking case of fraud was exposed on Friday as a group of individuals in Gujarat managed to operate a fake toll plaza for over a year, bypassing the actual toll booth and collecting money from drivers. The incident took place on the Bamanbore-Kutch national highway near Morbi.

According to reports, the fake toll plaza was set up on private land owned by the White House Ceramic Company, a closed factory. The perpetrators diverted traffic from the official toll booth via their private land, charging drivers half the price to pass. This also caused significant financial loss for the authorized toll plaza and the government.

Illegal toll collection

The manager of the actual Vaghasia toll plaza, the legal toll booth on the national highway, reported that the illegal toll collection had been ongoing for at least one and a half years. He estimates that the accused were able to extort thousands of rupees daily from unsuspecting drivers.

Morbi district Collector GT Pandya said, "We received information that some vehicles were being diverted from the actual route of the Varghasia toll plaza and toll tax was being collected. The police and other officials reached the spot to investigate and filed a detailed complaint."

A complaint was filed by the police against Amarshi Patel, the proprietor of White House Ceramic Company, Vanraj Singh Jhala, Harvijay Singh Jhala, Dharmendra Singh Jhala, Yuvraj Singh Jhala, and unidentified individuals. The police are currently investigating the case and all those involved will face legal action.
