A 19-year-old woman security guard working at a housing society died after she was allegedly raped by her supervisor in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, said the police.
The accused has been identified as 32-year-old, Ajay.
The incident happened on Sunday, said police. The victim was then admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital by her co-workers as her condition started deteriorating. She took her last breath on Monday.
According to the police, the deceased belonged to Jharkhand and was living with her aunt in the close vicinity of the housing society.
However, her family alleged that she was gang-raped by three men in the basement of the society and thereafter consumed poison due to which she was admitted to the hospital in the national capital.
Speaking to the news agency PTI, DCP (rural) Vivek Chand Yadav said that the police have lodged an FIR under the section of rape (376 IPC) as he said the woman was not gang-raped. He said police have obtained footage from CCTV cameras installed inside the basement in which no such incident of gang rape was observed.
He also said that her viscera had been sent to the forensic science laboratory to ascertain whether she died after consuming poison or due to her lung disease.
