Ahead of the G20 Summit, Delhi has witnessed a fresh spell of rain in several parts of the city in the early hours of Saturday, bringing relief from the rise in sultry days.

Delhi receives light rain ahead of G20 Summit

Parts of South West Delhi including Vasant Kunj, Munirka and Narela areas were lashed with light downpours today.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the national capital will likely receive light rain towards the forenoon over the weekend.

The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively today, the Regional Meteorological Centre said in a statement.

IMD predicts more drizzle

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a potential occurrence of very light rain or drizzle sometime between September 08 to 10 ahead of the G20 Summit at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan.

The weather agency also said that there are chances of very light rain or drizzle from September 8-10 at the venue of the mega event. The maximum temperature from Thursday to Saturday is predicted to be 35-37 degrees Celsius, but it is likely to dip slightly on Sunday to 34-36 degrees. The relative humidity is predicted to oscillate between 85% and 95% and 50-60% from Friday to Saturday.

Earlier in July, heavy rains and the release of water from the Hathnikund barrage based in Haryana caused floods in the low-lying areas of the national capital and the adjoining areas.
