G20: No online food delivery in New Delhi from September 8–10

The Delhi Police are reportedly currently enforcing elaborate security arrangements and traffic restrictions to assure the safety of the international leaders and delegates. According to recent updates, online food delivery services will not be available in Delhi during the G20 Summit on September 8–10.

The Special Commissioner of Police, SS Yadav, mentioned in his statement, “Cloud kitchens and food deliveries, or any commercial deliveries like Amazon deliveries, will not be allowed as we have stopped commercial services in the NDMC area.”

However, clearing the air over the speculation of a lockdown in the city, the Delhi Police announced that there would be no lockdown during the G20 Summit.

Delhi halts for G20

The city also announced elaborate traffic arrangements. The advisory by the Gurugram Traffic Police stated that vehicular entry into Delhi will be restricted from midnight on September 7 until midnight on September 10. The traffic restrictions will primarily affect the Dhaula Kuan route.

The police have also advised the companies in Gurugram to implement work-from-home policies on September 8.

The Delhi government has declared a public holiday in the national capital from September 8 to September 10. The government also directed owners of shops, businesses, and commercial establishments in the city to provide paid holidays to their employees and workers on September 8, 9 and 10 in view of the summit.

Delhi will be on “high alert” during the summit. More than a lakh security personnel will be deployed across the city as Delhi hosts world leaders.
