G20 Flower Fest to be held in Delhi’s Connaught Place from today onwards. It is a two-day event which is organised by New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) in Central Park, Connaught Place. The festival will highlight the vibrancy of G20 members and the guests of the event. Reportedly, four countries are participating in the G20 flower fest event, which are China, Japan, Singapore and Netherlands.

According to a New Delhi Municipal Corporation official, the flowers plants or potted plants from different countries will be showcased in the festival. The various variety of the potted plants might be produced locally or of their home country. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will also participate in G20 flower festival, where large variety of the seasonal flora and exclusive flora would be on display, as per officials.

As Connaught Place is the major attraction for tourists and a commercial space, a large number of visitors are expected at the flower festival that will be organised at the Central Park of Connaught Place in Delhi. In order to highlight the richness of the Indian subcontinent, flower plants of all hues and types will be on display in a variety of shapes and installations. The G20 nations taking part in the festival will also have access to space thanks to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, according to officials.

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation official said “The festival will also showcase the painting or photographs of flowers such as national flowers or major flower gardens of G20 member countries and guest countries. A flower exhibition and painting competition are also on the cards.” Enthusiasts for gardening can walk through the place to admire colourful blooms like dahlias, bougainvillaea, foliage plants, bonsai, cactus and succulents in pots, and hanging baskets. They can also buy their favourite plants, flowers, and other items from the stalls. There will also be flower sculptures, a tray garden, and floral arrangements on show.

The officials said that visitors could also enjoy the musical shows and cultural programmes being organised at the Central Amphitheatre. To enjoy the flower festival, people can walk through the gate opposite D block. There is no entry fee for the event. On March 11 and 12, the festival will take place from 10 am to 7 pm.

Officials also said that the painting competition for school kids will also be organised during the event. In order to make the G20 festival a success, the administration of Delhi is making all the necessary preparations. Preparations are on full swing cultural and social programmes related to this summit by Delhi and other states as well.

As part of the G20 summit, there will be a series of meetings throughout the year in India. It is the first ever G20 summit hosted by India.

Participating countries at the G20 summit

There are 19 countries in the G20 as well as the European Union. The nineteen countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States. The G20 members represent around 85 percent of global GDP, over 75 percent of global trade, and about two-thirds of the world’s population.

In addition to the participating countries, the guest countries are also invited to India to witness the event. These are Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain, United Arab Emirates.

In addition to the international organisations, the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Health Organisation, WB, World Trade Organisation, FSB, ILO and OECD are invited. The G20 group does not have a permanent secretariat.
