In Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur Sikri fort, a French tourist lost his life after falling from a nine-foot-tall platform when the surrounding wooden railing broke on Thursday. According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the woman who died was among a group of French tourists who were taking pictures at the Turkish Sultana Palace inside the fort when the wooden railing broke due to their combined weight.

French tourist dies after falling from platform in Fatehpur Sikri

After falling from the platform onto the stone floor, she suffered head injuries. Then, immediately she was rushed to the SN Medical College and then to a private hospital in Agra, where the doctors declared she was brought dead.

Speaking on the incident, ASI official Raj Kumar Patel said that the woman became unconscious after she fell and they suspected a head injury as there was no bleeding. The staff called for an ambulance but it took some time to arrive. By then, some guides present at the monument arranged for an ambulance and took the injured tourist to a hospital.

As per a tour guide, the railing that broke was installed after the COVID-19 pandemic and had been loose for several months before this tragic incident. He also claimed that there were no ambulances in Fatehpur Sikri and the one used to take the injured tourist had to be summoned from Kiraoli, which is located around 20 kilometres away.
