Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Meghalaya ahead of the Assembly Elections. Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled for February 27, 2023, to elect all 60 members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. On March 2, 2023, the votes will be counted and the results will be announced.Union Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the rally in Rangskona, Meghalaya, said that I have seen the biggest rally of the BJP in Meghalaya so far. The energy of the people has convinced me that the BJP is going to have a massive victory in the state. Meghalaya has all the things to become a prosperous state of the North East, but whoever became the Chief Minister here did not work to make Meghalaya prosperous. Instead they worked for their families and personal development.Amit Shah said that Meghalaya has everything to become the most prosperous state of the region. But all the Chief Ministers before this never focused on the welfare of the people but worked for their families and personal development. Assam is only a short distance away from Meghalaya. There has been a BJP government in Assam for eight years.Amit Shah attacked the Congress and NPP for looting money meant to build homes for the poor, and told them to vote against him. Now, he has urged the people of Meghalaya to vote in huge numbers. He further accused Congress leader Mukul Sangma of giving jobs to their families, which led to corruption in government jobs.He also added that whenever the BJP has formed its government that state has become corruption free. He assured the people that after forming the BJP government, they would work for the poor. we will ensure youth development and will provide employment opportunities through the SEZs. We will also ensure that all houses in Meghalaya will have uninterrupted power supply.He added that till 2014 there was a Congress government at the centre and the whole north-east was suffering from terrorism. After 2014, when the Modi government is formed, we have not heard the bomb-blast cases. Citing the RBI reports, said that Meghalaya is the state with the lowest growth rate due to its corrupt policies by previous governments.Shah said, BJP will form a committee led by a Supreme Court judge who will investigate all the corruption cases in the state. This committee will assure that corrupt people will be sent to jail.The way Assam is benefitting from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, so will Meghalaya if they come into power. Treatment up to 5 lakhs is covered under this program. Amit Shah added that Assam is very near to this place, aunder BJP rule, it is flourishing and being developed under the able leadership of Himanta ji. We will work on the same developmental model of Assam for making a prosperous Meghalaya.Amit Shah during a rally in North Tura, MeghalayaAmit Shah on Thursday announced that the BJP had broken its alliance with the NPP ahead of the Meghalaya elections. This was so that it could contest all 60 assembly seats and emerge stronger. He appealed to the people to vote for the BJP at an election rally in the North Tura constituency, promising to end corruption in the state.The BJP, which was a coalition partner in the NPP-led MDA government, is running for all 60 seats in the February 27 elections. “In Meghalaya, we broke the alliance (with the NPP) so that the BJP could contest all the seats and emerge as a strong party,” he said.Assembly elections in both the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland will go under polls on February 27 while counting will be done on March 2.
